You have seen the prices on Booking. Parisian agency: 3-day cruise at £920. Egyptian local agency: same cruise at £580. You think it's a scam. This is false. It's just that middlemen are stealing your money.

The SEV team has been running a local agency in Cairo since 2020 and has escorted many British tourists. Here's what no one else is telling you.

A local agency knows:

• Where in Cairo the molokhia is best (and what locals actually pay for it)
• What 4-star hotel claims to be but is only 3-star
• Which “official guide” to Luxor scams tourists

How to Check Legitimacy

Step 1: Check Google Maps. Actual physical address. At our place: 12 Mostafa Kamel Street, Cairo. You see the building. The scammers have nothing.

Step 2: Call directly. Classic telephone number. A real agency responds. Automatic recording? Scam.

Step 3: Request a WhatsApp video. With the owner. The scammers refuse. A real agency happily accepts.

Step 4: Ask for the licence. Every legitimate agency holds a number issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. A fraud cannot produce one.

Step 5: Go through the Google reviews. After 15 years in business a genuine agency will have 200+ verified reviews. Read the critical ones too (there will be some, which is perfectly normal). A fraud has none, or a batch all posted on one day.
