Frequently asked questions about the 15-day tour

Why a 15-day tour in Egypt?
15 days is the ideal length for anyone who refuses to sacrifice anything. In 10 days, you have to make a choice: either Cairo + a full cruise without the Red Sea, or Cairo + a short cruise + the Red Sea. In 15 days, you get it all: 3 days in Cairo (pyramids + GEM + Saqqara + Khan el-Khalili + Old Cairo), 7 nights of Nile cruising (Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, Abu Simbel), then 4-5 nights either on the Red Sea in a 5-star all-inclusive hotel to unwind, or a White Desert Bahariya / Lake Nasser extension for those who love adventure.
What 15-day itinerary do you recommend?
Classic program: Days 1-3 in Cairo (Mena House, pyramids + GEM + Saqqara + Coptic Old Cairo), Day 4 flight Cairo-Luxor + embarkation, Days 4-10 a 7-night Nile cruise Luxor-Aswan (Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, + Abu Simbel), Day 11 flight Aswan-Hurghada, Days 11-14 Red Sea 5-star all-inclusive (Steigenberger Aldau, Sheraton Soma Bay or Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh), Day 15 return to the US. Desert variation: replace the 4 nights on the Red Sea with 4 nights on a White Desert Bahariya safari (4x4 + luxury camp).
How much does a 15-day premium Egypt tour cost?
Indicative budget per person (land tour with all domestic flights included, based on 2 adults):
→ Classic package (Mena House + standard 5-star cruise + Steigenberger Hurghada): $3,000-3,800 per person
→ Premium package (Mena House + Sonesta Star Goddess + Sheraton Soma Bay): $3,800-4,500 per person

Your flight to Egypt is arranged on your side.
Which 5-star cruise ship for a 15-day premium tour?
Top 3 by profile: (1) Sonesta Star Goddess - a 33-suite yacht with private balconies, 35-52 m², the most requested ship for premium 7-night trips. Ideal for couples and honeymoons. (2) Oberoi Philae - just 22 cabins, white-glove service (a butler for every 4 cabins), gourmet dining. Ultra-premium. (3) Movenpick MS Royal Lily - 56 cabins and 4 Royal Suites, the best value-for-money Premium choice for families with teens, well-honed entertainment, a pool. Great for groups.
Can the tour be adapted to our preferences?
Yes - it is our specialty. Common variations: (1) Lake Nasser extension - 3 nights Aswan-Abu Simbel aboard the Eugenie or Kasr Ibrim, a Belle Epoque atmosphere (+$1,600 per person). (2) White Desert Bahariya extension - 4 nights of 4x4 + luxury camp (+$850 per person). (3) Dahabiya cruise format - a private sailboat for 12-24 passengers instead of the large ship (+30-50% vs the 5-star equivalent). (4) Alexandria stopover - 2 nights on the Mediterranean (Bibliotheca, catacombs, Qaitbay). (5) Jordan combo - a 4-5 day extension to Petra + Wadi Rum via the Cairo-Amman flight.
When is the best time for a 15-day tour?
October-November and March-April are the perfect windows: 77-82°F by day, the Red Sea at 77-79°F, clear skies, ideal light for photos. December-February: excellent too (72-77°F, pure skies, magnificent winter light) but cool nights on the ship's deck (a wrap is a good idea). To avoid: June-August (100-109°F in Upper Egypt makes temple visits grueling). Booking: 3-4 months ahead for October-April (4-6 months for Easter or Christmas).
Do we need a private English-speaking guide for the whole tour?
Strongly recommended for a 15-day premium tour. Our standard setup: a private English-speaking guide in Cairo (3 days), a shared English-speaking guide on the cruise (a limited group of around 15-20 pax), a private driver without a guide for transfers. Private-guide upgrade on the cruise: +$430-650 per couple for 7 nights - recommended if you want a fully personalized pace (visits tailored to your interest in Egyptology, adjustable breaks, unlimited questions).
What fitness level is needed for this tour?
An average level is enough. Temple visits involve walking 0.6-1.9 miles a day on sometimes uneven ground, stairs (Valley of the Kings, the interior of the tombs), and heat (even in winter, 72-77°F in full sun). What to bring: good walking shoes (no flip-flops on the sites), water at all times, a hat, sunscreen. Not accessible: people with reduced mobility (the tombs are not equipped, with many stairs). For seniors or anyone tiring easily: frequent breaks, shortened visits, and a ship with a pool for recovery.
