£350 for 4 nights on the Nile in 5 stars, full board. That's the starting price, and yes, it's real. We know this because we have been booking these cruises every week for our English-speaking customers since 2020. The problem ? The majority of sites display ranges so wide that they are useless. "From £310 to £2,310" - thanks, that helps.
This guide does the opposite. We give you the real prices for Nile cruises in 2026, broken down by boat type, duration, season and comfort level. With hidden costs as a bonus (because yes, there are some).

Not all boats are equal. And the price difference between a standard 5-star hotel and a private dahabiya is double. Here is what it looks like in 2026.
Classic 5-star boat (80 to 150 passengers)
This is the most reserved option. Swimming pool on deck, buffet restaurant, air-conditioned cabins with views of the Nile. We are looking for solid comfort, without extravagance. Count £350 to £580 per person for 4 nights in a double cabin, full board. The price rises to £460-£690 between November and February.
Our guides systematically recommend boats with fewer than 100 passengers. Fewer people at the buffet, fewer queues at the temples (because the group goes down faster), and frankly an incomparable calm in the evening on the bridge.
5-star premium boat (40 to 80 passengers)
We're going up a notch. More spacious cabins, table service instead of buffet, spa on board for some. Price range: £500 to £850 per person for 4 nights. The difference with the classic? Fewer passengers, better meals, and a guide often dedicated to the group.
Dahabiya (8 to 16 passengers)
There, we completely change register. The dahabiya is a traditional wooden sailboat. No engine (or almost), absolute silence, stopovers in villages where the big boats never stop. We have accompanied hundreds of travelers to the Nuun and Nuut dahabiyas, and the feedback is always the same: “we didn’t know it existed.”
The price? From £680 per person for 4 nights. It easily rises to £1,150 in high season with excursions. It's more expensive, yes. But it's a radically different journey. To discover this option in detail, consult our page on dahabiyas Nuun and Nuut.
| Type of boat | Capacity | Price 4 nights (per person) | Atmosphere |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 stars classic | 80-150 passengers | £350 - £580 | Comfortable, lively |
| 5 premium stars | 40-80 passengers | £500 - £850 | Refined, calm |
| Dahabiya | 8-16 passengers | £680 - £1,150 | Intimate, unique |
3, 4, 5 or 7 nights: what impact on the budget?

The duration changes everything. Not just the total price, but also what you'll see (and especially what you'll miss by choosing too short).
3 nights (Aswan-Luxor or Luxor-Aswan) : the express option. You see Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. It's dense. Count £270 to £420 in 5 stars. Little secret that few people know: 3 nights on board actually means 4 full days of visits because boarding takes place on the morning of day 1.
4 nights : the sweet spot. Same itinerary, but with an additional day which allows you to visit Luxor without running. Our recommendation for a first trip. Price: £350 to £580.
7 nights : the great classic. Often a Luxor-Aswan-Louxor round trip with additional stops (Dendera, Abydos sometimes). Count £580 to £1,150 per person. The advantage? The rhythm is completely different. We take the time. We return to the temples at different times of the day. It's another journey.

What's included in the price (and what's not)

This is where most travelers get fooled. The displayed price seems competitive, then the extras add up.
Usually included
- Air-conditioned double cabin with Nile view
- Full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Guided tours of the main temples with English-speaking guide
- Entrance fees to sites (Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae)
- Boat-airport transfers (depending on the formula)
- Domestic flights in Egypt organized by us: Cairo-Aswan, Aswan-Luxor, Cairo-Sharm el-Sheikh, Aswan-Abu Simbel (depending on your itinerary)
Rarely included - and it adds up quickly
Your flight to Egypt : you book your own flight to Cairo, in complete freedom. Once there, everything is in our hands. We orchestrate all of your domestic flights (Cairo-Aswan, Aswan-Luxor, Cairo-Sharm el-Sheikh, Aswan-Abu Simbel) so that you go from one wonder to another without the slightest logistical hassle.
Tips : a subject that everyone avoids. Concretely, allow 5 to £10 per day for the guide and the same for the boat crew. Over 4 nights, this represents approximately £30 to £50 per person. This is the norm, not a bonus.
Drinks : water is included with meals, but sodas, beers and cocktails are extra. Average budget: 3 to £10 per drink on board.
The Abu Simbel excursion : not included in 90% of cruises. Allow £70 by bus (departure 3 a.m. from Aswan, return around 1 p.m.) or £140 by plane. It's worth the trip - it's one of the most spectacular temples in the country. Our complete guide to Abu Simbel details the two options.
The visa : 30 USD in e-visa or 30 USD on arrival since March 2026. Consult our Egypt visa guide for French people for the complete procedure.
Price per season: when it costs less
The season changes the price of a Nile cruise by 25 to 40%. It's huge. And paradoxically, the cheapest months are not the worst for traveling.
| Period | Indicative rate (4 nights, 5 stars) | Weather | Our opinion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov - Feb (high season) | £460 - £690 | 22-28°C, ideal | The best, but priced at the max |
| March - April | £380 - £580 | 25-33°C, pleasant | Excellent value for money |
| May - June | £310 - £460 | 33-40°C, hot | For greenhouse budgets |
| Jul - August | £290 - £420 | 38-45°C, very hot | Playable if you can stand the heat |
| Sep - Oct | £350 - £540 | 30-36°C, hot but OK | Our favorite |
September and October is our personal recommendation. Fewer people everywhere, prices 20 to 30% lower than the high season, and temperatures that remain manageable with a hat and a bottle of water. During our last support in October 2025, our clients had Karnak almost to themselves at 7 a.m. In January, it's impossible.
To know exactly when to go to Egypt in 2026, our seasonal guide details the advantages and disadvantages month by month.
High season cabins go quickly
November to February 2026, the best boats are sold out 2 to 3 months in advance. Book now to guarantee your place and your price.
Check availabilityThe hidden costs that no one mentions
Let's be honest: there are expenses that you won't see in any brochure. Here's what our experience has taught us.
Are you traveling alone? Most boats charge a "single" supplement of 40 to 70% of the base price. On a 5 star at £460, it can add £190 to £310. Contact us to find out which boats do not charge this supplement.
Sound and light show in Karnak (£30-£40), felucca ride in Aswan (£10-£20), visit to the Nubian village (£20-£30). Individually, it seems reasonable. Combined over 4 nights, this easily adds £60 to £90 per person.
The crew takes photos of you in front of the temples and sells them for £10 each on board. Nice, but it adds up. Keep your phone, it will do the trick.
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Cairo deserves a separate budget: 60 USD per person since December 2025, online reservation required. If you're combining a cruise and Cairo, make it part of your Egypt travel budget 2026.
5 tips for paying less for your Nile cruise

- Book in September-October - The boats offer "shoulder season" rates that are 20-30% cheaper, and the weather remains quite pleasant.
- Go through a local agency - We eliminate European intermediaries. Our margin is lower because our operational costs are in Egyptian pounds, not euros. Concrete result: 15 to 25% savings on the same boat, the same cabin, the same visits. Discover our Nile cruises.
- Choose a combination - A cruise + Cairo package is almost always cheaper than booking the two separately. Our combines Nile + Cairo Cruise departs at £990 flights included.
- Avoid Christmas and New Year - The two most expensive weeks of the year. Prices sometimes double. Shifting a week before or after can save £230 to £380 per person.
- Negotiate extras in advance - The Abu Simbel excursion, the sound and light show, the felucca: everything is better negotiated BEFORE departure than on board. Ask your agency to include excursions in the overall package.
Realistic total budget: your stay along the Nile

This is what it looks like when you put it all together. No surprises, no “from.” The real numbers.
| Expense item | Eco budget | Comfort budget | Premium budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cruise 4 nights | £310 - £420 | £460 - £650 | £680 - £1,150 |
| Visa | 30 USD (e-visa) | 30 USD (e-visa) | 30 USD (e-visa) |
| Tips | £30 | £40 | £50 |
| Extra excursions | £40 | £90 | £150 |
| Personal expenses | £40 | £80 | £150 |
| TOTAL per person | £710 - £880 | £1,040 - £1,350 | £1,390 - £2,230 |
