Dahabiyas Nuun & Nuut: Luxury Flotilla 6 Nights on the Nile
Nuun and Nuut are twin sailing boats, the dahabiya nuun nuut pair, named for Egypt's god of the first waters and goddess of the heavens, and they cruise the Nile as a flotilla. Each is a dahabiya luxury nile vessel offering a Nile luxury cruise 6 nights long, a dahabiya 8 cabins apiece, suited to big family groups, milestone birthdays, honeymooners and grand celebrations.

Nuun & Nuut: Sister Dahabeyas Named for Egypt's Gods of Water and Sky

For the ancient Egyptians, Nuun stood for the boundless ocean that existed before anything else, the source of all creation. Nut, who came after, ruled the night sky and its stars, her body stretched over the Earth. Water below, heavens above: Semelegantvoyage saw both forces reflected in the pair of sister dahabeyas that carry these names.
Dahabiya Nuun The God of Primordial Waters
The lead vessel takes 16 guests at most in 8 cabins. When the wind allows, she moves under canvas alone, veil lateens nil. Library lounge, restaurant with wraparound views, jacuzzi on the top deck. A crew of 12, with a chef on board dahabiya cooking Egyptian food.
Dahabiya Nuut Goddess Who Holds the Stars
Her twin has the same 8-cabin layout, though the interiors take a celestial theme (mosaic stars, pale cedar). Charter one or both: the pair travel in convoy and share evenings together on the quayside deck.
With Semelegantvoyage, a cabin on Nuun or Nuut starts at £1,690 per person for the 6-night Esna→Aswan sailing, while the £24,620 package gives you both boats to yourselves: a dahabiya flotilla found nowhere else on the Nile, made for weddings, an Egypt honeymoon shared with the wider family, landmark birthdays or company incentive trips.

Your 6-Night Route from Esna to Aswan, Day by Day

Day 1: Boarding at Esna and Through the Lock
A private car brings you from Luxor in about 60 min. You board at roughly 3pm, on Nuun or Nuut according to availability (or whichever you have chartered). Drinks of welcome are served on the top deck before the boat rises 8 m through the Esna lock, a dramatic start. The crew introduce themselves over your first sunset dinner.
Day 2 - El-Kab: Exclusive Provincial Tombs
Four hours under sail through the morning, then a stop few boats make: El-Kab, once Nekheb, the city sacred to the goddess Nekhbet. The rock-cut tombs of Ahmes son of Abana and of Pahery, both New Kingdom officials, are unlocked for your party alone, with nobody else around. Lunch aboard, an afternoon's sailing on to Edfu, and dinner aboard.
Day 3: Edfu's Temple, then the Gebel Silsila Quarries
A horse-drawn carriage takes you from the quay to the horus temple edfu: no Ptolemaic temple in Egypt survives in better condition, and its pylons rise 36 m. After lunch your intimate Nile cruise continues under canvas to Gebel Silsila, where stone for Karnak, Luxor and the Ramesseum was cut, and where Ramses II, Mineptah and Akhenaten left steles in the rock.
Day 4: Kom Ombo, then the Nubian Market at Daraw
The sobek kom ombo temple opens the day: Egypt's only twin sanctuary, half for Sobek the crocodile, half for Haroeris the falcon, plus the Crocodile Museum and its mummies. Then on to Daraw, where Sudanese caravans bring camels to market on Mondays and Thursdays. After dark, Nubian musicians play on deck, with flotilla parties gathering on one boat.
Day 5: Under Sail All Day to Aswan, via Banana Island
The whole day is spent sailing the 50 km to Aswan, past date-palm groves, Nubian villages along the shore, egrets and ibises. A felucca ferries you across to Banana Island, a garden of banana plants, mango and guava trees. You reach Aswan towards the end of the afternoon, and the captain hosts a farewell dinner.
Day 6: Aswan at Leisure (Added on the 6-Night Sailing)
Included on Signature and Prestige: the temple of Isis at Philae, rebuilt on Agilka Island, a felucca crossing to Elephantine Island, and the Nubian village of Gharb Seheil with its painted houses and home cooking. Your final night aboard is spent on the star deck.
Day 7 - Disembarkation in Aswan
Breakfast, then you disembark at 9am. Transfer to your Aswan hotel or the airport, or continue to Abu Simbel (priced on request). Your Nuun & Nuut sailing ends.
Chartering the Flotilla: Nothing Else Like It on the Nile
Nowhere else in Egypt can you take TWO matching dahabeyas as a single private charter; the Nuun & Nuut flotilla is the sole arrangement of its kind. It grew out of requests from large families and couples who wanted a small, personal ceremony on one vessel while their guests slept on the other. Think of it as chartering a yacht on the Nile, with one clear, all-in price.
Everything covered by the £24,620 package: 6 nights with all meals for as many as 32 guests across the 2 vessels · the complete crew · a bespoke menu designed with the chef, tasted in advance · a Sufi musician or traditional Nubian group · 2 days of photography and video · your symbolic ceremony (vow renewal, non-religious wedding, birthday) · flowers · harbour dues and admission to every monument · your own English-speaking Egyptologist guide.
+ premium options: internal flights Cairo to Luxor and Aswan back to Cairo (£6,160/group), 3 further nights at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza (£11,540/group), a West Siwa desert safari running alongside for guests not sailing.

SEV Customer Testimonials - Nuun & Nuut

“We took the whole Nuun + Nuut flotilla for our 25th wedding anniversary, 22 guests from both families. We renewed our vows on the Nuun's deck as the sun went down, then everyone dined together, beautifully dressed. The chef and his crew could not have been better. A memory for life. »
- Valérie & Philippe M., from Lyon, March 2026
“The honeymoon we hoped for. A superior cabin aboard the Nuut, with star-themed decor true to the myth. 6 nights are over too soon. The evening at El-Kab stays with us: nobody but us beneath the tombs. Our English-speaking guide was outstanding and the chef worked around allergies. SEV delivers what it promises. »
- Élodie & Maxime T., from Nantes, February 2026
“Our Parisian law firm brought 28 people on an incentive trip. We chartered the flotilla, partners aboard Nuun, staff aboard Nuut, and came together each evening. Mornings were for the Egyptologist's tour of the Horus Temple at Edfu, afternoons for sessions under the covered deck. No other operator offers anything like it. »

FAQ: Dahabiyas Nuun & Nuut

What is the difference between Nuun and Nuut boats?
In build they are identical: 55 m, 8 cabins, 16 guests apiece. Where they differ is inside. Nuun, named for the god of the waters, is fitted in dark timber with blue-green tones; Nuut, for the sky goddess, in pale wood, ivory and gold, with mosaics of stars. Comfort is exactly the same on both.
Can we reserve only one cabin on each boat?
Yes. On the Essential, Signature and Prestige formulas you book a cabin, and whether it is on Nuun or Nuut depends on what is free. Couples travelling as a group are placed on the same vessel wherever possible, unless you ask otherwise.
How much does a fleet privatization (2 boats) cost?
The 6-night charter starts at £24,620 for 32 guests at most, 16 per vessel. That covers full-board cabins, excursions, guide, musician and photographer. It leaves out the optional symbolic ceremony (allow £1,150-£2,690 by format), flowers and flights.
Can we organize a wedding on board?
Yes, as a symbolic ceremony only: we hold no licence to officiate in Egypt, so it has no legal standing. We arrange everything, floral altar, musician, bespoke menu, dress storage and star-themed decor. The legal marriage must take place in the UK beforehand or at the British Embassy in Cairo.
Does the boat accept children?
Yes, from age 6, with reduced rates for 6-12 year olds and again for 12-18s. The flotilla suits three generations travelling together, grandparents, parents and children. An extra bed can be put in the panoramic suite on request.
What is the best season?
October to April brings 22-28°C and clear skies. May through September is hot, 35-42°C, though rates drop. Demand peaks from December to February; a full flotilla charter should be booked 6 to 9 months ahead.
What is the difference between Esna→Aswan 6 nights vs Luxor→Aswan 4 nights?
Most large motor ships skip the Esna lock. Sailing Esna to Aswan over 6 nights lets you call at El-Kab, which few visit, and the pharaonic quarries of Gebel Silsila, in far greater peace. The 4-night Luxor to Aswan run is the big-ship standard, and crowded.
Is there an internet connection on board?
WiFi when moored at Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan. Under way, going offline is deliberate. Mobiles on 3G/4G roaming get signal along nearly the whole route if you must stay contactable.
What should you wear on board?
Aboard, keep it relaxed: swimwear for the jacuzzi, a wrap for starlit evenings. Cover shoulders and knees at temples and the Nubian market. Smart casual for the captain's dinners (D1, D7). Symbolic wedding: your choice entirely.
How to book and pay?
3 instalments, no fees, from £1,540. Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, PayPal. Flexible cancellation terms.
