The 12 Days in Detail: Cairo, Nile, Hurghada
Day 1 - Arrival in Cairo
Met at Cairo international airport and driven privately to your 4-5★ hotel. Welcome dinner, then your English-speaking guide walks you through the programme.
Day 2: Giza Pyramids and Sphinx
A full day: the Great Pyramid of Cheops, then Chephren, Mykerinos, the Sphinx and the valley temple. Lunch up on the plateau. Late afternoon at the great Egyptian museum GEM (opened at the close of 2024, with the whole Tutankhamun treasure).
Day 3 - Memphis, Saqqara & Dahshur
The old pharaonic capital, then the Saqqara necropolis (Djoser's step pyramid) and the Red and Bent pyramids at Dahshur. Dinner in old Cairo.
Day 4 - Cairo-Luxor Flight & Boarding
A 1 hour morning flight brings you to Luxor, where you board your 5★ Nile boat. Karnak temple fills the afternoon; the evening in Luxor is yours.
Day 5: Valley of the Kings, West Bank
Valley of the Kings (3 tombs included, Tutankhamun optional), Hatshepsut's mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari, the colossi of Memnon. Afternoon: Luxor temple under lights.
Day 6 - Edfu & Silsileh
Sail on to Edfu for the temple of Horus, the best preserved in Egypt. Pass Gebel Silsileh and its pharaonic quarries. Dinner aboard.
Day 7: Kom Ombo, then into Aswan
Morning at the twin temple of Kom Ombo (Sobek-Haroëris). Sail on to Aswan, arriving in the afternoon, and cross by felucca to the temple of philae aswan.
Day 8: Aswan, with optional Abu Simbel

Why do Hurghada at the end of the trip and not at the beginning?
In body and mind alike, 4 days on the beach do far more to wind you down after 8 intense days of archaeology than the same 4 days would at the start. You arrive home refreshed rather than drained. That is the logic behind the best egypt culture and beach circuits: culture first, then rest.
Are domestic flights included?
Yes, all domestic flights in Egypt (Cairo-Luxor, Aswan-Hurghada, Hurghada-Cairo) are organized by us and included in the 3 formulas: you can enjoy the wonders of the country without any logistics. Only your flight to Egypt remains your responsibility, to be booked freely depending on your departure city.
What is the difference between Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh?
Geographically, Hurghada follows on naturally from a Nile cruise: a direct Luxor to Hurghada transfer (4h by road or a 45min flight), whereas Sharm means going back to Cairo for a separate flight, stretching the itinerary and the cost. The reefs are on a par (Giftun versus Ras Mohammed).
Can we replace the Nil boat with a dahabiya?

Are meals included throughout the stay?
Yes: full board on the Nile (breakfast, lunch and dinner aboard), all-inclusive in Hurghada (meals, local alcoholic drinks and snacks) and breakfast in Cairo. Lunches in Cairo and dinners in some cities are quoted according to your formula.
What to do in Hurghada for 4 days?
Unwinding on the private beach, snorkelling at Giftun Island, a catamaran outing, quad biking in the desert, an optional Luxor excursion from Hurghada (+£90), thalassotherapy or a fishing trip on the Red Sea.
